What happens now?
It’s no secret that there are a LOT of people affected by the Corona Virus Pandemic. My friends in hospitality and the arts are scared and wondering how they will survive. The rest of us are wondering just how big people’s freezers are because there is no meat left on the shelves at the supermarket. The wedding industry is enormously hard hit with people discouraged from being in large groups. Weddings are being cancelled and no one knows what to do.
What am I doing in this situation? I’m very lucky that this is not my full time job so if a client cancels or postpones their wedding it won’t affect me much at all. I have a wedding booked this weekend and at this stage it’s going ahead and I’ll be there ready to do my job and make the day as special as possible.
Some very good friends are getting married in a big wedding next month and I’m really looking forward to doing this ceremony for them. Maybe we’ll be incredibly lucky and the panic might be over but it’s not looking likely.
My theory is that I’m going to go with whatever the couples decide. I’m staying put at home this week so that I minimise my chances of picking up the virus, or any other virus so that I can be healthy and safe for this weekend’s wedding.
To those getting married soon, make your choices wisely. Maybe scale back the size of your wedding, postpone if you need to or forge on. Who knows? Maybe masks can become the hottest wedding trend of 2020?
