When kids go rogue!
Late last year I had the pleasure of splitting the celebrant duties at a wedding which was a really fun ceremony and I can tell the night was going to be a great party. One of the couple’s friends was training to become a celebrant but she wasn’t quite qualified yet so they booked me to do the legal parts on the day and all the official paperwork.
At the ceremony, the couple and all their family were really relaxed and in the mood to celebrate and have a good time. A couple that are relaxed and not stressing about the little things, and who have a smile on their face are exactly the kind of couple that I want to do ceremonies for.
The ceremony and bridal party were preceded down the aisle by about six kids who were related to both sides of the couple. Bear in mind the ceremony had originally been intended to be outside but the weather was against us so it was a little tight for space but that made it much more intimate and fun. When the kids had lead everyone down the aisle and the ceremony was underway, they didn’t really know what to do with themselves and as you can see in the photo, one of them was especially taken with the rose petals they had been tasked with throwing earlier.
I know some people are mortified with a child that doesn’t sit quietly during a ceremony and sure, you don’t want them going completely crazy and running around but these kids were fantastic. The couple clearly adored all of them and had a good laugh at their antics crawling around their feet while they said their vows. If the kids involved are special to the couple, don’t sweat the innocent fun of kids.
