Let me step aside
The very nature of my job as a Wedding Celebrant means there are often about 100 guests witnessing me be a bit of a third wheel to the happy couple. Thankfully I have an important job to do and everyone is paying attention to the two people getting married.
One thing I made sure of from the very first wedding I did was that when I pronounce people legally married and prompt them to have their first kiss as a married couple, I step out of the way because there is nothing more awkward and third-wheel than a loved up happy duo having a kiss with a random stranger standing there looking at them in all the photos.
There are a lot of people in the world who don’t like public displays of affection. Getting too intense in public does tend to make those around you a little uncomfortable and for some people, like gay couples, it may be a matter of safety to not hold hands in public. But having a good smooch at your wedding is the exception to that rule. You are likely to have your guests all cheering and clapping at the sight.
Forgive me though if I just step aside for the moment. Your photos will be better for it I promise.
