Seven Years Ago
Iceland passed a bill in their Parliament, legalising same sex marriage on 11 June 2010 with not one member of Parliament voting against it. Doing so it became the ninth country in the world to remove gender from it's legal definition of marriage.
Ten years earlier a poll had discovered that over 50% of the Icelandic population approved of same sex marriage.
Here in Australia we have more support than that with various sources saying over 60% and some over 70%. Let's hope the plebiscite gets a resounding Yes. We may see marriage equality by Christmas.
